Taiwan - Day 2
The view from the observation deck of Taipei 101.
The wind damper that stabilizes Taipei 101.
Some of the isanely expensive coral gem art.
The people here love their Lu Rou Fan (chopped pork on rice)! This is the line in front of Jin Feng, where we stopped for a quick lunch.
Our quick but memorable view of the Grand Hotel Taipei.
The view from the palace museum, of what seems to be apartment buildings at the base of a mountainous jungle.
The Palace Museum.
The Palace Museum- much nicer to look at than to go into.
Creepy building (maybe preschool?) for children that we passed by on our way to go shrimp fishin'!
Shrimp fishing bound!
Poorly drawn Disney characters on the outer walls of a Taiwanese girls' school.
The walls near the sidewalk were covered in these big colorful guys!
The very unique and insanely cool shrimp fishing spot!
Hunter caught the fist shrimp!
I caught the second shrimp! Check out his freakishly long arm!
Seriously! Look at that thing!
The woman on the right is the only reason we caught any shrimp. I have no idea how she does it, but she's a freakin shrimp-catching magician.
Got another one! By the end of our two hours, Hunter and I each caught one shrimp without help from the magic shrimp lady!
Hunter's shrimp are in the basket on the far right, mine are in the middle, and the shrimp in the left basket were caught by a couple of guys who were pro's. They even brought their own shrimpin' pole!
Hunter was brave enough to skewer the live shrimp before throwing them on the grill.
Check out the horn on that sucker!
Beauties
So proud of ourselves for catching these bad boys! Shrimp fishing is tough work!
They're so blue before they're cooked!
The grill-master, hard at work.
Orange and ready to eat!
A meal well earned.
To a great day and memories that will last a lifetime!
We couldn't end our night without a trip to a night market! These are some candied fruits at Tonghua.
Clearly enjoying my pink dragonfruit!
Clear mochi balls filled with different flavored powders.
Wild boar sausages
Sugarcane juice cart
Deep fried stinky tofu. If only we could share the smell with you.
Trying to get over the smell to take a bite!
Stinky tofu! Tastes just like regular tofu, but with a bit of an after-taste of vomit and shit.
Wandering around Tonghua Night Market
Hunter found a street food cart for more xiaolongbao!
Street food soup dumplings. So tasty.
Little cookie-cutter cakes, in all different cute shapes!
Shootin' bb guns again!
Hunter at the bb gun shooting stand!
The guy who runs the stand, chattin it up about guns with Hunter.
